We split our two softball games tonight.
We lost the first game 13-1. I don't want to talk about it!
But...in the second game, we eeked out a squeeker, 8-7.
In the top of the 7th, the opposing team is threatening to score with two men on, and two outs. A lefty at the plate, hits a rocket towards Chuck Fink, who is playing second base. The certified laser, strikes Chuck on his bare, throwing hand and rolled off to his left. Instead of falling to the dirt and sobbing like a baby (which I would have done, and never made fun of him for doing), Chuck keeps his bearings, steps to his left, and in one smooth motion, grabs the ball with his gloved-hand and flips the ball to Holbrook who is standing on second. The fabulous play ended the inning and the scoring threat.
Riding the wave of momentum from Chuck's web gem, we scored in the bottom of the 7th to win. The Green monster had the winning RBI (That stands for Run batted in...Babe).
Much love goes out to Chuck and his swollen right hand!
